How should I choose?
Compare stone forms, surface finish, size, and product descriptions before selecting a piece. Trade names and mineral species can differ; check each listing for its exact material information. In metaphysical practice, symbolic meanings vary by tradition and personal interpretation; an item does not promise any particular outcome.
Are satin spar and selenite the same material?
Both names commonly refer to forms of the mineral gypsum, but satin spar usually describes a fibrous, silky appearance and selenite more often describes transparent crystalline gypsum. Retail labeling can use the words loosely, so check photos and descriptions. Gypsum is relatively soft and moisture-sensitive: avoid soaking it or leaving it in standing water.
Satin spar, selenite and gypsum trade names
Most white fibrous satin spar products sold as 'selenite' are varieties of gypsum; more transparent tabular gypsum is often called selenite in mineralogical usage. Compare each item's listed material, polish, size and surface texture rather than relying on a metaphysical trade name. Gypsum is soft and moisture sensitive: do not soak wands, plates or bowls. For a dry display setup, see crystal plates and stands.
