The most important candle accessory is a stable holder designed for the exact candle shape. This selection includes ceramic chime holders, loop-handled holders, pentacle motifs and skull-shaped designs, along with several brass candle snuffers. A chime candle socket is not interchangeable with a wide pillar base.
What should a candle holder do?
Check the opening diameter, flatness of the base, heat resistance, and where melted wax can collect. A snuffer is an optional way to extinguish a flame, not permission to leave candles burning unattended. Keep fabric, dried herbs and paper away from flames and follow the candle maker's instructions. Our snuffer versus blowing comparison explains practical differences.
Should I use a candle snuffer or blow out a ritual candle?
Practitioners have differing traditions about snuffing and blowing out flames; those beliefs are not physical safety rules. A suitable candle snuffer is an optional practical tool for controlling a flame. Whatever the method, the candle must be fully extinguished before you leave. Match the holder to the specific candle's width and design, and never put dry herbs, fabric or paper near the flame.
