The Illuminated Manuscript Mutable Talisman Necklace draws from the strange, symbolic imagery found in medieval grimoires and religious manuscripts—where humans, animals, and spirits existed side by side in visual language meant to instruct, warn, and transform.

This piece is designed by an artist trained in medieval and Renaissance art through study in New York and Italy, reclaiming historical imagery as a personal working talisman rather than a relic behind glass. The front and back together form a dialogue between play, danger, protection, and change.

The reverse image is adapted from the Rutland Psalter, a 13th-century English prayer book, depicting a Pan-like figure playing a flute—an emblem of liminality, instinct, and the wild edge of devotion. Surrounding and accompanying imagery includes dancing figures and a golden moon, layered with symbols of protection and transformation:
