Stone profile & correspondences

Satin spar is the parallel-fibrous habit of gypsum, recognized by its silky linear appearance and light-catching sheen. Correspondence overview

In contemporary Western crystal and occult practice, satin spar is usually discussed under the trade name ‘selenite’ and symbolically associated with clarity, purification, spiritual focus, lunar imagery, and orderly sacred space. These are cultural and spiritual frameworks rather than scientific properties, and the material does not guarantee cleansing, protection, healing, intuition, calm, or energetic effects.

Traditional ritual applications

Practitioners may place satin spar on an altar, use a wand or plate as a symbolic marker in a crystal layout, display it near divination or meditation tools, or include it in personal purification and intention-setting practices. ‘Charging’ and ‘cleansing’ describe spiritual practices and do not establish a measurable product function.

Metaphysical and ritual associations are traditional or symbolic references and are not medical or scientific claims.

Traditional role in practice

Suggested application

Use in a dry contained altar, shelf, meditation space, or journaling arrangement where the soft surface will not be abraded.

Commonly paired with

Pairs naturally with clarity, cleansing symbolism, reflection, meditation, lunar themes, and gentle dry display.

Traditional, metaphysical, and symbolic associations vary by source and practice; they are presented as spiritual or cultural reference rather than guaranteed outcomes.

Care & considerations

Care instructions

Keep dry. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or brush. Avoid soaking, running water, high humidity, salt, acids, harsh chemicals, abrasives, steam, ultrasonic cleaning, high heat, scratching, and hard impacts.

Safety and handling

Satin spar gypsum is soft and can scratch, chip, or shed small fragments. Keep damaged pieces and loose fragments away from children and pets. Do not ingest, place in drinking water, burn, heat, cut, grind, drill, sand, or intentionally create dust.

Natural variation

White-to-cream tone, fibrous sheen, layered texture, translucency, crystal edges, proportions, and surface character vary naturally.

This White Satin Spar Gypsum “Iceberg” is a sculptural natural piece of fibrous gypsum often called “selenite” in crystal retail. Its pale layered texture and irregular upright form make it a distinctive crystal specimen for display, altar arrangements, or practices centered on satin spar’s traditional clarity and cleansing symbolism.
